How it all works

The idea

Every class here is live — a real teacher, a small group, at a set time. Nothing is recorded, so you turn up and take part. If you can’t make the time, it’s better not to book.

Finding a class

Browse the week schedule or the full class list (filter by day, category or price). Times count down live — “In 12 min” updates while you read.

Booking a place

  1. Open the class and enter your name, email and how many places you want.
  2. Got a discount code? Type it in and press Apply to see the new total.
  3. Press Reserve my place.
Use an email you actually read — your joining link and class details arrive there. There’s no account or password.

Paying (if the class has a fee)

  1. After you reserve, press Complete enrolment — it opens PayPal with the amount filled in.
  2. Send the payment. That’s it — you don’t come back and confirm anything.
  3. We check the payment and email your confirmation with the joining link.

Free classes confirm instantly and email the link right away.

Joining on the day

Click Join the class in your confirmation email. No app, no download — your browser asks for camera and microphone, and you’re in. The room opens 15 minutes before the start. Your link is personal, so please don’t forward it.

One-on-one sessions

Want private time on exactly what you’re working on? On the one-on-one page, pick a teacher and tell them when you’re free. They’ll email you to agree a time and send the video link.

Non-native English speaker? This programme teaches art in clear, live English — with up to 50% off. It’s explained in six languages.

Art for college

Aiming at competitive colleges? Art for College Applications helps students build a real portfolio and a voice to write about it.

Suggest a class

Want something we don’t offer yet? Post it on the ideas board and vote for others’ ideas. The most-wanted get scheduled.

If something goes wrong

  • No confirmation email? Check spam, then reply to any earlier email from the studio.
  • Paid but not confirmed? Give it a day — payments are checked by a person.
  • Link says “opens 15 minutes before”? You’re early — keep the tab open.
  • Need to cancel? Reply to your email as early as you can.

Getting started

  1. Apply at teacher.php — name, email, a password you choose, and a little about what you teach.
  2. The studio reviews and approves you (you’ll get an email).
  3. Sign in with your email and password.

Adding your photo

On the application (and later), press Choose a photo… and pick an image from your device — it previews instantly. No need to have it online first.

Creating a class

  1. Sign in and find Create a class on your dashboard.
  2. Fill in title, subject, level, time, tuition, places, outcomes and a cover photo.
  3. Press Publish class — it’s live immediately, with a video room made for you.
Leave the video option on “create a room automatically” — you never have to set up a meeting. Only switch to your own link if you specifically want Zoom, Teams or Meet.

Putting a class in a programme

When creating a class, use the Programme dropdown under Level to add it to Learn English through Art or ART for College Applications. It then appears on that programme’s page automatically. Leave it as “Regular class” otherwise.

One-on-one sessions

In your portal, turn on “List me for one-on-one sessions” and add a line about what you offer and a rate. Students then send requests with their availability. You’ll see each request in your portal and by email — reply to agree a time and share the video link, then mark it Contacted or Scheduled.

Discount codes

Create your own codes (percent or fixed amount, with optional limits) for your classes. Students enter them at checkout. Turn a code off any time — it won’t affect anyone who already used it.

Starting a class

From your portal, the Start class button appears 15 minutes before each session. Arrive a few minutes early to check your camera and microphone.

Jitsi may ask the person starting the meeting to sign in with a Google account — students never are. Try one class end to end before your first real one.

Forgotten password?

There’s no self-service reset yet — email the studio and they’ll sort it out.
